Title: A window on 5G test
Presenter: Randy Becker (Keysight, USA)
Abstract:
This paper takes a look at the UE design and test challenges presented by the move from familiar < 3 GHz RF signals with 20 MHz of bandwidth up to the mmWave frequencies with GHz bandwidths being studied for 5G. Signal propagation at these frequencies is very different to what we are used to and this will have a large impact on system design and test in order to optimize the use of beamsteered antennas at both the base station and mobile devices.

15:40-16:00
Title: Channel Sounding Test Solution From Rohde & Schwarz
Presenter: Bob Ng Shiong Nien (Rohde & Schwarz, Malaysia)
Abstract:
The channel sounding test solution from Rohde & Schwarz enables direct measurement of the channel impulse response (CIR) in the time domain, which is much faster than a test setup based on a network analyzer. The R&S®SMW200A and the R&S®FSW offer very high reference frequency stability, hence power delay profile measurements can be performed without the need for synchronization, making it ideal for outdoor measurements.

Title: Title: Real-time mmWave Prototyping: 28 GHz and Beyond
Presenter:  Sarah Yost, (National Instruments, USA)
Abstract:
As the IMT's 2020 deadline approaches for 5G standardization, mmWave frequencies have come into the spotlight as a technology that will be used to realize the technology demands of 5G.  The largely uninvestigated mmWave spectrum poses many questions for communications researchers ranging from defining the propagation environment with new channel sounding measurements to evaluating new coding strategies and physical layer schemes.  Real-time prototyping has become an essential step in validating new 5G technology candidates.  New advances in RF, ADC and DAC, and FGPA technologies provide the building blocks necessary to fully exercise prototyping in this new spectrum.

Title: Internet of Things - DLM & myMaker
Presenter: John Tay (Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC))
Abstract
Digital Lifestyle Malaysia (DLM) is the MCMC’s initiative to promote and accelerate the development and adoption of digital applications and services. It includes the adoption of intelligent IoT infrastructure for Internet-based communications transactions to promote social economic development. Another MCMC’s initiative is myMaker aimed at raising public awareness on the technology development by technology enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students and commercial exhibitors. All of these will create a Makers community in the hope to create innovative and creative society towards smart nation leveraging on IoT. Makers are the grassroot society that can contribute and escalate the adoption.

Title: LTE WiFi Link Aggregation
Presenter: Chun Yeow, Yeoh (Telekom Malaysia R&D, Malaysia)

Abstract:
"LTE WiFi Link Aggregation (LWA) enables operators to integrate WiFi and cellular traffic. LWA, as one of the LTE advanced features being standardized in 3GPP Release 13, leverages the 5GHz unlicensed band similar to LAA-LTE or LTE-U, but without requiring the new handset. In this talk, we summarized the best approach of implementing LWA in Telekom Malaysia network to achieve better LTE-WiFi convergence"
